The children's ministries of
Southwest Hills are dedicated to building four key fundamentals into
children's lives - 1.) understanding the Bible, 2.) memorizing
scripture, 3.) serving others, and 4.) helping others believe in
Jesus. While our different programs may bring a variety of emphases to
these four areas, all our children's leaders have a real heart for
seeing the next generation raised up to have a positive impact for the
Kingdom.
Our programs for children
include Sunday school, KidSpeak (a Sunday children's church type of
program), AWANA (a mid-week club program), and various summer
activities. A brief description for each of these follows.
Sunday school: We have
developed our own tailored curriculum for our 2 year olds through 5th
grade classes. At 9:00 we have classes for all those ages, and at
10:45 we teach a second group of 2's through Kindergarten students.
Our focus during this time is to have our students develop a solid
understanding of the Bible and their relationship with our God.
KidSpeak: This is our
10:45 hour program on Sundays for children in the 1st through 5th
grades. The children involved in this ministry prepare a Christmas
musical to present to the church and to nursing homes or wherever an
outreach opportunity is opened. They've also prepared other programs
at times and been involved in special service projects. The emphasis
for this program is on serving others and evangelism. Much of their
learning focuses on what the Bible says about being a servant or a
missionary.
AWANA: (see the separate
AWANA section for a description of this program.)
Summer Activities: Over
the years, Southwest Hills has offered vacation Bible schools,
basketball camps, music camps, soccer camps, game days, back to school
parties, scholarships to church camps, and other activities to
minister to children during this important time of year. See the
activities below to see if any of these are being offered
soon.
